Dead Northern Horror Film Festival is delighted to announce Love Horror as the festival's Official Media Partner for 2026, with the long-running horror website joining us in York for the full festival weekend, 25 - 27 September.

Love Horror has been covering the world of horror for years, bringing readers the latest horror news, film reviews, interviews, features and competitions, alongside a passionate focus on the genre and the people who make it.

Now, they're bringing that coverage to Dead Northern.

Tom Atkinson & Alex Humphrey, Love Horror's founders, will be leading the Love Horror presence at the festival, with the team on site throughout the weekend capturing the atmosphere, meeting filmmakers and guests, and getting out amongst the horror fans who make Dead Northern what it is.

The partnership will see Love Horror conduct interviews with filmmakers, festival guests and audiences, alongside live coverage from across the weekend. For the filmmakers appearing at Dead Northern, it provides another opportunity to talk about their work, the stories behind their films and the realities of making independent horror.

For festivalgoers, it also means there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved, share their experiences and potentially find themselves on camera as Love Horror captures Dead Northern in real time.

Josh Lawson, Festival Director of Dead Northern, said:

"We're absolutely thrilled to welcome Love Horror as our Official Media Partner for 2026. Tom, Alex and the team have been part of the horror community for a long time and they genuinely understand the genre and the people behind it.

"What we're particularly excited about is having them here for the whole weekend. Dead Northern isn't just about the films on the screen it's about the filmmakers, the fans, the conversations, the atmosphere and all the weird and wonderful things that happen around the festival. Love Horror will be there to capture all of that.

"It's also a fantastic opportunity for our filmmakers. Independent filmmakers put an enormous amount into making their films and giving them another platform to talk about their work and reach a wider horror audience is something we're really passionate about."

Tom Atkinson of Love Horror said:

"We're incredibly excited to be joining Dead Northern as its Official Media Partner. What Josh and the team have built in York feels exactly like the kind of festival Love Horror wants to support: passionate about independent horror, welcoming to filmmakers and fans, and clearly driven by people who absolutely love the genre.

Love Horror has always been about celebrating horror in all its forms, particularly the people putting everything into making and championing independent genre cinema, so this partnership feels like a really natural fit. We can't wait to get to York in September and see what Dead Northern has in store."

The partnership continues Dead Northern's commitment to creating opportunities for independent filmmakers and connecting the festival's audience with the wider horror community.

With screenings, premieres, filmmaker events, talks, live events and plenty of horror-fuelled activity taking place throughout the weekend, Love Horror will be right at the heart of the action.

So, if you're heading to Dead Northern this September, keep an eye out for Tom and the Love Horror team. You might just find yourself part of the coverage.
