Sony Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for its highly anticipated new Resident Evil film, offering horror fans their first look at director Zach Cregger's fresh take on one of the genre's most iconic franchises.
Following the critical success of Barbarian and this year's Weapons, Cregger returns with what promises to be a tense, action-packed reinvention of the long-running video game adaptation series.
Rather than retelling familiar stories, the new film introduces an original narrative centred on Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier whose routine night spirals into a terrifying fight for survival as unimaginable horrors unfold around him.
The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser.

The film is produced by TriStar Pictures, Constantin Film and Davis Films, with a screenplay by Zach Cregger and Shay Hatten.
After years of cinematic adaptations, this latest instalment appears to be taking the franchise in a darker, more suspense-driven direction while introducing an entirely new story within the Resident Evil universe.
The first trailer teases grotesque creature effects, relentless tension and Cregger's signature unsettling atmosphere, suggesting audiences could be in for one of the biggest horror releases of 2026.
Resident Evil arrives exclusively in UK cinemas on 18 September 2026.
