Horror fans can return to the darkness this summer as The Descent: Part 2 receives its first ever 4K UHD release in the U.S., arriving as a limited edition 4K + Blu-ray + Digital Steelbook from Lionsgate on 11 August 2026.
Directed by Jon Harris and written by James McCarthy, J Blakeson and James Watkins, the 2009 sequel continues the terrifying story that began with Neil Marshall's modern horror classic The Descent.
Picking up immediately after the events of the original film, The Descent: Part 2 follows Sarah Carter (Shauna Macdonald), the sole survivor of the Appalachian cave disaster. Traumatised, bloodied and unable to fully remember what happened beneath the surface, Sarah is forced to return underground alongside a rescue team searching for her missing friends.
But as Sarah's fractured memories begin to return, the rescue team discovers that something far worse is waiting in the depths - a new tribe of the terrifying Crawlers, more savage and relentless than anything they have faced before.
The new limited Steelbook release brings the sequel to 4K for the first time in the U.S., featuring a Dolby Vision presentation and English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The release also includes a selection of legacy bonus features and new extras, including:

The Steelbook artwork has been created by Matt Ryan Robin, offering collectors a new way to own one of the most claustrophobic horror sequels of the 2000s.
Released in 2009, The Descent: Part 2 expanded on the mythology of the original film, returning audiences to the brutal underground world of the Crawlers and delivering more of the creature horror and survival tension that made the franchise a favourite among genre fans.
The limited edition 4K + Blu-ray + Digital Steelbook release of The Descent: Part 2 arrives in the U.S. on 11 August 2026 through Lionsgate.
